Our goal and mission is to produce plants native to Oklahoma and/or beneficial to wildlife.  We have a special emphasis on plants which support butterflies, moths and other pollinators.

We are a small Oklahoma nursery and because we do not have a brick and mortar location, we sell through farmer’s markets and herb shows.

We are now on Face book

Here is a sample of some interesting info that you will find there.

Exclusive!!! Pat Folley showing off the first copy of Oklahoma Wildflowers, our long awaited field guide. It's a beautiful book and anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing Pat will recognize her voice on every page. Kudos to the University of Iowa Press (bless their hearts) for making this book a reality. I'll be checking as to the date we can begin to purchase them and keep you updated.

Oklahoma's most traveled caterpillars? The offspring of the 3 winged Monarch and several Black Swallowtail caterpillars went on vacation to Rocky Mountain National Park last week. Can't say they got a lot out of the experience, but at least they were fed well. Here they are pictured at 12,026'.

A Diana Fritillary came to visit our garden.  Here he is nectaring on American Basketflower.  This is the state butterfly of Arkansas but is not currently on the lists for Seminole County Oklahoma.

The October 2011 edition of Oklahoma Gardener Magazine has a "Hot Plants" article by Marilyn that has been posted on their web site  about Golden Crownbeard (Verbesina enceliodes).  Be sure to check it out.

Marilyn has written another article for Oklahoma Gardener Magazine (July/August 2011 edition). Found on page 16 the article "Native fruits of Oklahoma" tells us to look for our wildlife and people friendly native fruits.  Also Schroeder Wilson discusses Rudbeckia hirta, a staple in our prairie garden.

Catch the article in the Oklahoma Gardener Magazine ( June 2011 edition).  "Prairie Design" by Marilyn Stewart.  Learn about the benefits of prairie gardening with tips on getting started.  Also, be sure to catch the article "One Great Wildflower" by Schroeder Wilson on page 66 of the same issue about the deer resistant plant Amsonia tabernaemontana.  You can find a photo below with a Tiger Swallowtail in attendance.  This plant is also listed in Kens List. (see the link above)

Douglas Tallamy, author of "Bringing Nature Home" was in Oklahoma August  2010. He spoke at the OKC Zoo with close to 200 people in attendance.  He also spoke at the Tulsa Garden Center where about 300 attended. Our thanks to the many people who assisted with this project. A special thanks to Alyne Eiland who made the Tulsa event not only possible but successful far beyond what we originally envisioned. And of course our thanks to Dr. Tallamy who did not disappoint.  The message is crucial and he delivered the case for native plants in a clear, concise and interesting manner.

Marilyn was awarded the 2010 Bess Snodgrass award at the ONPS Wildflower Workshop in recognition in her work for the advancement of wildflowers in Oklahoma.  This award is given by the Snodgrass brothers of Ardmore who provide the award picture and plaque as well $400 for the purchase of wildflowers at a site chosen by the recipient.  They do this to honor their mother and her work in preserving wildflowers in Oklahoma.
